David Maljkovic
This is a particularly interesting piece. I often think of metal as something that is heavy, static and non-malleable but I forget that during a sculptors process it is a material that can actually be moulded when heated to a certain temperature. So to see a heavy material such as this moulding around a less heavier material (the plinth, which is suspect is made of wood) makes it less lifeless and a little less static. This is different to my current environment which I inhabit - everything is architecturally ‘block-like’ and geometric and looks un-movable, with lighter and less denser materials weaving in and out of them. This piece is opposite to my environment.
